I've been very bad with updating this thing. But as long as I do it eventually, then I have no worries.
I've been keeping myself busy sewing dresses, thrift shopping, saving money to move to L.A. , taking endless amounts of Polaroid pictures, listening to rap/underground hip-hop. Meeting new people. Losing some old friends. re-Discovering how nice it is to be single. partying. and working.
all in that order.
But for the most part, life has been fun and hectic at the same time. Things are changing all around me and I want to make sure I can capture that beauty in mt art.
Ahhh. I need more coffee. Have a lovely day everyone!
So I finished my old Art Journal a month or so back. And I've been dying to start another one ever since. It's cool now, because my new friend, Xochie, is also into collaging and she keeps a collage-book as well. So xochie is partly the reason I'm feeling inspired to start up again!!
I'm preparing myself for a big move in december!! I'm moving to Los Angeles!! I've never lived there - infact, I've never lived anywhere other than Las Vegas. So, needless to say, I fucking hate this place. And I am SO ready to embark on my own adventure somewhere else!!
I even purchased the 'Wallpaper City Guide :: Los Angeles'. I want to study up on the history, culture, and geography before I go there!!
gah! I'm thrilled!!
Hopefully all goes well. <3
but I didn't forget about you,
I'm just a lazy stoner.
:]
So I've pretty much finished up my very first Moleskine. I'm really glad. It was a lovely journey discovering my creative talents. I can't wait to crack open my new sketchbook!
I also finally made a cover for sketchbook #1
I've discovered that decoration on the outside of journals is really easy with Outdoor Mod Podge. It's great! It's waterproof, permanent, and fast drying.
I actually purchased the Mod Podge Starter Kit. And that has been one of the most useful tools to me yet. Glue is a wonder to me. lol
Long time, no update!
Terribly sorry! I'm rediculously busy these days..
Ever since they fired our jerk-of-a-boss at work, everybody else has been quitting!! So now our staff consists of only 4 people.
pretty pathetic.
So yeah, I'm basically looking for a new job. ANY IDEAS?
Here's some journal scans that I haven't had the time to upload to vox...
And I've been in an organizing mood lately, so I went through ALL of my fabric and swatches (A WHOLE LOT) and organized them and got rid of junk.
Its nice to start fresh.
Hello world. Hows everyone.
I've got a couple more pages up for view here and on my Flickr site. I've been experimenting a lot with photo transfers, collage transfers, and plain ol' watercoloring. I'm working on being more purposeful when painting.
We'll see.
The "Tokyo at Midnight" one was made from clippings from a Japanese newsprint. Then painted over in layers to resemble a gory version of the Japan flag.
Annnd the last one is rather self explanitory if you just read it. It's for a friend who is going through a really hard time. Its hard seeing a friend go down the wrong path, but sometimes, there's really nothing you can do.
anywhom, i need to run off to work. Have a lovely day/week.
I've got a few new scans from my Moleskine, so I'm going to skip the chit chat and get to the point.
These ones are the usual sort of stuff. Watercolor/Collage/Writing..
And this is a before and after scan of a collage piece I did.
Annnd this is the new thing I've been tinkering around in. Photo transfers or collage transfers (which these are...)
It's a fun and kinda messy process, but I've fallen in love with the finished product!!
Nothing new herrrre. Same old, same old. Just signing on to post a few pics. Filling everyone in on what I've been wasting my time with these days. hmm... where to start. WELL, I go a smashing deal on a brush set. At Arron Brothers (framing and fine art supplies), they just had a HUUGE semi-annual sale thing going on. I got this set of 18 paint brushes for $5!!! Great freaking deal! And they came in this simple canvas roll-up bag. But this made life so much easier!!
And ofcorse I threw in some of my old brushes, too. They need a safe home as well...
And I know you guys are thinking.. "What is a post from Ashley without some sort of scan from her Moleskine Journal" .... Well, you're about right. So here's a scan from a spread I did a couple days ago. It's sort of about my boss at work. He's a total theif.
au revoir!
I've got 2 more pages filled since yesterday. I just can't get enough of this.
I bought a slew of new pens today. I got the new Gelly Roll "Glaze" Pens. They're pretty neat. They write in 3d, and come in some really trippy colors. The final product resembles that of embossed text. But without the powdery mess. :) And the less mess I make, the happier I am.
And I've decided that I really really want to take my Moleskine traveling. Somewhere exotic. But I suppose that would take me actually taveling to accomplish that. I need a more exciting life. Well, I'm going on a Party Boat trip next month. Thats about as close as i get to traveling. lol.
Well, have a good day everyone.
It seems that all I've been doing lately is adding to my Moleskine. It's still pretty new, but I just can't get enough of it! I do miss sewing, though. I need to go to Joann's and pick up some new thread.
Annywho, The first spread (with the eyes at the bottom) Is a poem sort-of deal. Well, to be honest, it's more of a rap. Just getting thoughts out of my head. I've been trying to be more poetic lately, because I NEVER used to write. But now it comes more naturally to me.
The 2nd one is a doodle I made while @ work ("Better Days Will Come"), and then collaged the rest of it last night before I fell asleep.
Let me know what you guys think of these..
